वेदेषु प्रधानतमः, प्राचीनतमः प्रथमश्च ऋग्वेदः। ऋच स्तुतौ इति धातोः निष्पन्नः ऋक्शब्दः। अर्थात् स्तोत्ररूपाभिः ऋग्भिः घटितत्वात् अन्वर्थाभिधानः।
