THE ASTOUNDING RIVER AMARAVATI IN TAMILNADU

In Tamil Nadu, there is a district called Karur.  This place is situated between Tiruchirappalli and Erode.  It was embellished with the river called Amaravati.  Actually the river Amaravati originated from the bottom of the valley of Palani Hills and Aanaimalai Hills. It starts to flow from this place and travels through Udumalaippet near Kovai, Dharapuram and Aravakkuricchi and reaches Karur.

By the water source of this Amaravati-river, Thiruppur and Karur districts are found developed.  This river helps the people of Karur district. In and around Karur, people cultivate cotton corps with the help of water source of Amaravati.  So, the textile industries become highly flourished.  Shanmuga nadhi, Kudaganaaru and Upparu are Amaravati’s tribunals.  It flows through the places like PasupathiPalaiyam, Panchamadevi, nerur etc.

On the banks of the river Amaravati, near Pasupathi-Palaiyam, there is Pasupatheesvara temple for the Lord Siva, near the hill station called ThaanthondriMalai, there is KalyanaVenkataramana Svami temple for the Lord Vishnu, near Panchamadevi, there is a temple of the Lord Venugopal and near Nerur, there is a memorial shrine for a great saint called Sadasiva BrahmendraSvamigal.

There is a lush of greenery around these temples with crops like Sugarcane, Paddy, and Coconut etc. There exists a dam in the same name which supplies the sufficient water to the nearby areas which makes it drought-free zone.
