Penna
River, also called NORTHERN PENNER RIVER, rising on the Deccan Plateau 7 mi (11km)
west-southwest of Chik Ballapur, Karnataka 9 (formerly Mysore) state, southern
India. It flows north into Andhra
Pradesh state and turns east-southeast toward the Coromandel Coast, emptying
into the Bay of Bengal near Nellore, about 350 mi from its source. The river is seasonal, becoming a torrent
after the rains and a thin stream during dry periods.
